Nemrut
Dagi
Sunrise at the top of Nemrut
Dagi.
5
massive granite statues built on the top of Nemrut Dagi. Earthquakes
have caused all the heads of the statues to become dislodged. There is
a restoration project currently in progress to put the heads back onto
their bodies. Each head alone can weigh up to 3 tons.
 Damian
and Gary on the summit of Nemrut Dagi. 5 massive rock/granite statues
are located here. Damian just before sun rise with a head of a statue
which has been dislodged by an earthquake. Gary, just before sunrise, sheltering
from the chilly, early morning wind.
The
Euphrates ferry crossing. Not the greatest, but probably the cheapest
so far.
Cappodocia
When
we saw this sign in the town centre, we realized that much time in the
saddle was still to come!!

These alien-looking rock
formations that Cappadocia has to offer became famous when the
Christians burrowed into them to escape persecution. They spent many
years building exquisite churches within these dome formations of which
only a few still exist today. George Lucas of Star Wars fame, used this
as the location to film some of his scenes.
Two
local ladies in the process of making a Turkish carpet. If you thought
that computer programming is a drain burner, check this out...

Volcanic
and natural Lakes

 Unlimited
camping grounds around the volcanic lakes. Gary serving up a bikers
3 course meal before the light fades.
   Dusty
bikes with a tired Donkey.
  It's
that time yet again, +/- 10 000 klicks under the belt and then its the
bikes turn for some attention.
If
you think we have travelled far, then think again. Josef Pichler is
currently on his way through China having left Austria in June this
year. The only continent he has not covered on his motorbike is Africa.
We met Joseph at Kings campsite alongside Lake Van in Tatvan, the same
place we
did our 1st major service. The KTM sponsored rider has done some 130,
000 kilometres outside of Europe!
The
local sheep compete for drinking water while camping in Tatvan..
We
found these poor fellows abandoned under an olive tree when taking a
break. We left them water and biscuits, which they loved. Wonder
how they are now???
Mount
Arrarat - heading for the Turkey/Iran Boarder.

 The
last town of Dogubeyazit in Turkey before crossing into Iran
Turkey has been very good, we
are quite sad to leave!
