Western Australia

Cape Leeuwin, where the Southern and Indian oceans meet. It was quite cold at Australia's most southwestern point with the windchill down to zero.

The 70 metre Bicentennial tree near Pemberton. It has several hundred metal stakes driven into it so that it can be climbed. The view from the top is fantastic, these forests stretch as far as the eye can see. You can tell by the finger in the picture that it's difficult to see our bikes way below!

The Nullabor Plain

A night spent in the bush on the side of the road as there is literally nothing in this vast desert for miles, apart from the road kill that doesn't seem to be scarce! One of the "highlights" was 90 mile straight.

We did manage to see some beautiful scenery like the Nullabor Cliffs and the abundant salt pans. We thought the going was tough but we met 6 guys doing it on bicycles!

Almost across the great Nullabor, the Flinders mountain range guides us from Port Augusta into Adelaide. The windy plains and dry conditions didn't make it easy for crossing but we were fortunate that it was not the usual searing 40 degrees! Then again, it took us 3 days on motorbikes, spare a thought for the cyclists who spend 3 weeks getting across!

Perth

The city of Perth at sunset and from the south across the swan river.
